White-checkered Skipper (Pyrgus albescens) |
In Louisiana white-checkered skippers are found mainly along the gulf coast, but do occur in all of Louisiana. They look exactly like common-checkered skippers and can be distinguished only by examining the genitalia. This photo was taken in Hidalgo County, Texas which is out of the range of common-checkered skippers. So we know that this is likely a correct identification. |
