King's Hairstreak (Satyrium kingi)

This species is only found in the vicinity of its host plant Symplocos tinctoria commonly known as sweet leaf or horse sugar.  It's my experience that horse sugar is found in very sandy soil along wooded streams.  It has one brood in June.
