Cabbage White (Pieris rapae)

The photo below was taken in upstate New York.  Apparently this species was prevalent in Louisiana years ago, but after observing and photographing butterflies in Louisiana for almost twenty years, I have not seen one in Louisiana.  The published range of this species includes all of Louisiana and indeed all of the United States.
