| Confused Cloudywing: Walter B. Jacobs Nature Park, Shreveport, LA, July 7, 2007. This butterfly is nectaring on brazilian vervain. Distinguishing Confusing and Southern Cloudywings. There are two butterflies that are always difficult to distinguish from each other because they are so much alike: Southern Cloudywing and Confused Cloudywing. To distinguish the two, look at the four hyaline spots near the apex of the forewing. The Confused Cloudywing shown here always has the last spot noticeably offset toward the apex. The Southern Cloudywing always shows these four spots in a straight line.
